Allegany County Emergency Management has confirmed that an unidentified man was rushed to the hospital Friday after his van traveled off westbound U.S. Route 40 and struck a tree near Vale Summit Road. Emergency Management and Maryland State Police responded. The injured man suffered apparent life-threatening injuries in the mishap that occurred at about 8:20 a.m.LaVale Rescue Squad transported the victim to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Frostburg and LaVale volunteer fire departments also responded to the scene. The investigation is ongoing

Police and ambulance crews on the scene of a single vehicle accident on Route 51 in front of Burger King in South Cumberland this afternoon. One person has been transported from the scene with injuries.
