A new law designed to dramatically upgrade 9-1-1 call systems statewide was made official recently when Maryland Governor Larry Hogan signed the legislation. The law allows for the deployment of a statewide Next Generation 9-1-1 system. With the use of cell phones at an all time high, surprisingly many states, including Maryland had failed to update 911 call centers to reflect this changing technological landscape.
