On May 2, 2018 at approximately 4:30 A.M. deputies of the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office responded to a McMullen Highway address in reference to a stabbing.
Upon the deputies arrival they made contact with a female subject who reported she had been attacked by her female roommate who stabbed and choked her. Deputies examined the victim and observed injuries that were consistent with the victim’s statement.
The Cresaptown Fire Department had responded to the scene and began treating the victim for the injuries sustained during the assault. Deputies attempted to me contact with the suspect who was reported to still be inside the residence. A short time later, an arrest warrant was obtained and 50-year-old Linda Lee Forsythe of Rawlings was taken into custody. The victim was transported to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center to be treated for her injuries.
The Maryland State Police and Cresaptown Fire Department assisted with the incident.
Linda Forsythe was charged with the following crimes in reference to the incident.
First Degree Assault
Second Degree Assault
Attempted Robbery
Attempted Theft: Less $100
Wear/Carry Deadly Weapon with Intent to Injure
Forsythe was taken before a District Court commissioner and ordered to be held at the Allegany County Detention Center without bail.
