A fire at an apartment building near Hagertown Community College resulted in dozens of residents being left without a place to live.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal's office says the blaze broke out at the facility on Robinwood Drive when lightning struck the top of the structure shortly after 8 PM Tuesday evening.
Maryland Governor Larry Hogan issued the following statement:
"We are saddened to hear of the massive apartment fire in Hagerstown that has displaced over 70 residents. The state stands ready to work with local officials to offer any resources needed to keep residents safe. The First Lady and I send our condolences to all those affected by this incident, and we thank all of the first responders who answered the call."
