Two Maryland men are one of 10 missing sailors after a collision last week between a U.S. Navy destroyer and an oil tanker. WBAL reports the crash involving the USS John S. McCain occurred on Monday east of Singapore. Electronics Technician 2nd Class Kevin Sayer Bushell, 26 of Gaithersburg, and Information Systems Technician 2nd Class Timothy Thomas Eckels Jr., 23, of Manchester, are among 10 sailors still missing,
Bushell is a 2009 graduate of Gaithersburg High School, WBAL-TV's sister station, WRC-TV, reported.
Bushell joined the Navy seven years ago. His family confirmed to WRC that Bushell was aboard the USS John S. McCain when it collided with the tanker, causing significant damage to the hull.
Navy divers have found some remains. After more than 80 hours of search efforts, the U.S. Navy has suspended search and rescue efforts.
The remains of one sailor was confirmed as Electronics Technician 3rd Class Kenneth Aaron Smith, 22, of Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
