The Baltimore Sun named Governor-elect Larry Hogan as its Marylander of the Year.

The paper said Hogan displayed, "independence and integrity,"  that puts him, " in a solid position to govern."  It also said his victory changed Maryland's political landscape

The editorial says  his victory over Lt. Governor Anthony Brown, the better financed and better known candidate,  changed Maryland politics.
