On October 1, 2017 The Cumberland Police Dept responded to a business on Howard St in reference to a breaking and entering complaint that had occurred sometime overnight.
Upon arrival Officers learned that an unknown suspect entered the business by breaking out a window on the second floor. The suspect then entered the business and removed an undisclosed amount of currency before leaving the area.
On Tuesday October 3, 2017 Officers with the Cumberland Police Dept responded to a business located in the 200 block of North Mechanic St for a report of a breaking and entering that occurred overnight. Upon arrival it was discovered that the culprit entered the business by forcing a side door to the building open. The suspect then made entry into the business where several items of value were removed. The suspect then left the store.
Also on Tuesday October 3rd, 2017 The Cumberland Police Dept responded to a second business located on Bennett Lane in reference to a Breaking and Entering that also occurred overnight. At this location the door was also forced open and entry made. Once inside the culprit removed several items of value and left the building.
On 10/4/17 the Cumberland Police Dept responded to a business located in the first block of Pershing St for a report of a breaking and entering that just occurred. Upon arrival Officers located a window that had been broken. Officers learned that an unknown suspect entered the business and removed an undisclosed amount of currency before leaving the business.
On 10/06/17 Officers with the Cumberland Police Dept responded to the same business located in the first block of Pershing St for a burglar alarm activated. Upon arrival it was learned that entry was made into the business through a window and numerous items of value were removed.
Officers through previous investigations had developed a person of interest in these above mentioned crimes. Officers responded to the suspect’s residence where contact was made. As a result Officers observed several items that were removed from the Pershing St business inside the residence at that time.
As a result Officers placed a 17 year old juvenile male under arrest and transported him to the Cumberland Police Dept where he was charged with Second Degree Burglary, Fourth Degree Burglary, and Theft related charges.
Further investigation led to further evidence being obtained in the previous burglaries that occurred on Howard St, North Mechanic St, Bennett Lane, and the previous burglary on Pershing St. Charges have been forwarded to the Department of Juvenile Services on the previous burglaries that charge the juvenile with numerous burglary and theft related charges. The juvenile was released to the custody of the Department of Juvenile Services pending a hearing in the juvenile court.
