Are you blind, visually impaired or know someone who is or maybe you work with the visually impaired? Consider joining the state’s fastest growing chapter here in Western Maryland. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back. The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Freedom Guide Dog Puppy Raisers
Puppy Raisers Needed! Raise a Puppy, change a life! Puppy raising is the very first step in a guide dog’s journey toward changing someone’s life. Volunteer puppy raisers open their homes to young puppies and help them build confidence, good manners, and trust during their most important developmental year. The love, structure, and experiences a puppy receives during this time directly shapes their ability to become a successful guide dog. Without dedicated puppy raisers, future guide dogs simply wouldn’t be possible.
What puppy raising includes:
*All approved medical expenses and monthly preventatives are covered by Freedom Guide Dogs
*They support their puppy raisers with the essentials to get started, a detailed puppy raiser manual to guide you, and ongoing support from their Puppy
Department and fellow puppy raisers
*Housebreak, teach basic obedience, socialize, and expose your puppy to new and diverse surroundings and HAVE FUN!
No prior dog training experience is required-just patience, commitment, and a willingness to learn. Puppy raisers play a vital role in helping dogs grow into confident, capable partners for someone who is blind. Volunteer Today! Freedom Guide Dogs – 315-822-5132
