National Federation of the Blind of Maryland Western Maryland Chapter
The Western Maryland chapter of the National Federation of the Blind is seeking new members as it starts its local membership drive! Are you blind, visually impaired or know someone who is or maybe you work with the visually impaired? Consider joining the state's fastest growing chapter here in Western Maryland. Hounds Around Town
Looking for a day filled with furry friends and fun? Then look no further than the Allegany County Animal Shelter's "Hounds Around Town" program, which allows individuals to sign a shelter dog out for the day. The most important thing is you are giving an adoptable shelter dog a much-needed break from the kennels and providing enrichment and socialization. National Library Week
The Allegany County Library System is excited to celebrate National Library Week, Sunday, April 6th to Saturday, April 12th. There will be a variety of events and activities highlighting the invaluable role of libraries in the community. This year's theme 'Drawn to the Library' celebrates the creativity and personal connections that bring people to libraries for learning, inspiration, and community. Winners of the Library Card Design Contest, Maryssa and Carmen, will have their limited edition library cards available at all ACLS locations beginning Monday, April 7th, while supplies last. As part of National Library Week tradition, ACLS will host the "Food for Fines" event Tuesday, April 8th, benefiting the Western Maryland Food Bank. Patrons can bring non-perishable food items to any ACLS branch and receive $1.00 off their library fines per donated item, up to a mzximum of $15.00 per person. Donations must be within experiation date, unopened, and undamaged. This initiative provides an opportunity for library users to clear overdue fees while supporting a good cause. ACLS is proud to present sceenings of Free For All: Inside the Public Library, a compelling documentary that explores the history and enduring impact of public libraries in the United States. Following each screening, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in discussions facilitataed by members of the Women's Action Coalition and the Choose Civility initiative. Times and dates of showing include: Tuesday, April 8th-5:00PM to 7:00PM at the Frostburg Library. Pizza will be provided and registration is recommended. Thursday, April 10th-12:30PM to 2:30PM at the ACM Thomas Welcome Center. Friday, April 11th-12:00PM to 3:00PM at the South Cumberland Library. Pizza will be provided, rgistration is recommended.

Embassy Theatre Fundraiser
Stop by the Embassy Theatre, Friday, April 11th at 8:00PM to hear the music of the seminal rock group of the 60s and 70s. From the early songs of Abbey Road, this restrspective covers the Beatles entire musical journey through its varied songlist. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the UPMC Dialysis Unit. A core band will accompany vocals from many of the Embassy favorites. The band will consist of Greg Larry, guitar & vocals; John Macy, drums & vocals; Tom Harrison, keyboards/guitar & vocals; and Terry Mullaney, bass & vocals. FSU Presents legally Blonde The Musical
Frostburg State University's Department of Theatre and Dance will present the energetic and upbeat Legally Blonde the Musical, Friday, April 25th and Saturday, April 26th at 7:30PM and a special matinee, Saturday, April 27th at 2:00PM in the Woodward D. Pealer Performing Arts Center. Legally Blonde the Musical is based on the adored film featuring Reese Witherspoon, action packed and exploding with memorable songs and dynamic dances, this musical is so much fun; it should be illegal! Embassy Theatre – Little Women
Jo March isn't your typical Victorian lady. She's indecorous and headstrong, one day she will be a great American novelist and she gives the audience her greatest story: that of the March sisters, four dreamers destined to be imperfect women. The Embassy Theatre's performace of "Little Women" is a play adapted by Kate Hamill from the novel by Louisa May Alcott, to be performed Friday, May 9th & Saturday, May 10th at 8:00PM and Sunday, May 11th at 2:00PM. An additional Saturday matinee is scheduled for Saturday, May 10th at 2:00PM.
