According to a Fox Business review of grants and loans, West Virginia Senator Joe Machin played a role steering millions of dollars in federal funds to organizations linked to his wife Gayle over the past several years. In response to an inquiry, a spokesperson for Manchin said the senator was committed to using his role on the Appropriations Committee to "fight for" West Virginia causes and noted that other lawmakers were also involved in funding efforts benefiting his wife's employers. During an appearance on “Meet the Press”, Manchin was not asked about that story, but there was a great deal of focus on his future political plans. A moderate Democrat in a deeply red state, there has been speculation that Manchin may not run for re-election as a Democrat in 2024- and still other rumors that he is considering running for president. He was asked about all of those possibilities- but he offered little in the way of any specific plans…
