The State of West Virginia’s annual Sales Tax Holiday is taking place this week through August 7. During the tax holiday, families can save money on certain back-to-school items such as clothing, school supplies, laptops and tablets, and sports equipment that will be exempt from the state’s sales tax. The West Virginia Governor’s office says that the average customer will save at least 6% on every qualified purchase and up to 7% if they purchase the item in a municipality that has imposed a local sales tax. According to the National Retail Federation, households will spend an average of $864 on back-to-school supplies for K-12 students.
