While the West Virginia Education Association has called for Governor Jim Justice to immediately order remote learning for all school systems through the remainder of the year, the State Schools Superintendent has declared stay-at-home learning a failure. Superintendent Clayton Burch said this week that remote learning is not good for West Virginia’s children and that daily interaction with a teacher should be sought as much as possible, despite the rising number of COVID-19 cases. In a radio interview this week, Burch said the more he learns about remote learning, the more he’s convinced it should be avoided.
