Moose and Goldie have officially joined the ranks of 36 other therapy dogs West Virginia First Lady Cathy Justice has introduced through the Friends With Paws program. Moose, a golden retriever, has been placed at Hampshire High School in Romney while Goldie, a Labrador retriever, is going to work at Keyser Middle School. The dogs were introduced at a school “pup rally” and will help students with anxiety, self-esteem, and overall well-being. First Lady Justice says the dogs provide comfort and companionship…
“They relate to the dogs. I mean, they don’t feel intimidated. The dogs, as we all know, are never in a bad mood. They’re always happy and glad to see you. That’s what we want. We just want to build a real bond and a real connection to these children, especially after the pandemic. It’s just been – mental wellness has just been really tough.”
