The State of Maryland has announced recommendations to improve safety on Maryland roadways, especially in work zones. The Work Zone Safety Group, under the direction of Lt. Governor Aruna Miller, has developed the guidelines thrugh surveys with the public, law enforcement, and roadway workers. Lt. Recommendations include additional law officer presence in workzones, educational safety campaigns in schools, increase numbers of speed cameras, and increasing the citation amount for speeding in a work zone. So far this year, that have been more than 1,100 crashes in work zones in Maryland including one crash in March that killed 6 highway workers…
