Woman Attempts To Elude Bench Warrant

On September 3 at approximately 2:00 P.M., the Allegany County Combined Warrant Unit, assisted by the Allegany County Sheriff's Office, executed a search warrant at 446 Seymour Street in Cumberland in an attempt to serve a bench warrant on Tara Rene Rice-Platter. Tara Rene Rice-Platter, 38 of Cumberland, was wanted on a District Court Bench Warrant for Violation of Probation. The original conviction was for Theft Less Than $100 where she received a 90-day suspended jail term with 24-months Supervised Probation. Rice-Platter was apprehended as she tried to elude law enforcement by slipping out the back door of the residence during the execution of the search warrant. She is currently being held without bond at the Allegany County Detention Center pending a bail review in District Court.
