An early Sunday morning fire on Wilson Road in Oldtown caused over $100,000 in damages to a home. The homeowner awakened when their dog began to behave oddly and then observed flames at the rear of the residence. A smoke alarm also activated. The occupant fled the residence and called 911. Forty-five firefighters took half an hour to control the blaze. The Maryland State Fire Marshal reports that embers from a portable fire pit ignited combustibles and dry vegetation under the rear deck which then ignited the wooden deck and spread to the structure.
