The Maryland Department of Natural Resources is advising hunters that Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease has been confirmed in Maryland. EHD is naturally occurring, affecting deer and rarely livestock – deer will have visible sores caused by a virus transmitted by flying midges. There is no threat to humans. Cases have been documented throughout the state, as far west as Garrett County as well as neighboring states of Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia
