In addition to being an opportunity for lovers of spirits like whiskey, bourbon, and moonshine to gather for tastings, the Whiskey Rebellion scheduled for September 13 at the Allegany Museum serves the purpose of raising funds for the yearly operation of the museum and celebrating local history. During this year’s festival, over 20 re-enactors will be present to interact with patrons about the history of the area and the Whiskey Rebellion of 1791. Museum Vice President Vic Rezendes notes that the re-enactors are very knowledgeable about their characters…
“They’re not just lookalikes. These are people who have ingrained themselves in to the history and the character. They know everything about George Washington. You can engage them in serious conversation about any aspect of George Washington’s life from growing up on Mount Vernon to the Whiskey Rebellion, including when he was President of the United States.”
