Master Deputy State Fire Marshal and Bomb Technician Ed Ernst has been selected as the Western Regional Office nominee for Deputy State Fire Marshal of the Year.
He will join other investigators chosen for the 2023 James C. Robertson Deputy State Fire Marshal of the Year Award during the Maryland Fireman's Convention in Ocean City next month.
Ernst's criminal case closure rate exceeded the national average at 56%, and he led the agency with 13 arrests in 2023.
