West Virginia Fall Fire Hazard

September 27th, 2024 by WCBC Radio

The fall color is making its way through West Virginia. Despite a dry summer, the recent rainfall has brought welcome glimpses of a vibrant fall season and higher elevations in the Mountain State are seeing pops of color. However, fall fire season is also approaching, beginning October 1, and Governor Jim Justice says the fall brings fire hazards due to the dry summer…

“This state is absolutely so dry and with fall being here and all the leaves go down and a lot of people hunting and everything, the danger of people smoking and doing whatever it may be, it can get out and get out real fast  and cause a heck of a problem. Fall’s coming really fast and really early this year, but again be really careful about this fire situation.”
