The City of Cumberland Engineering Department, on behalf of Belt Construction, has announced that water service will continue to affected the Decatur Heights and Downtown regions of the City from Monday, August 22, 2022, thru Thursday, August 25, 2022, from 8am – 5pm, in order for the contractor to connect the new water main to the existing crosstown water main.
Residents of the Decatur Heights and Downtown Region will experience intermittent shutdowns and reductions in pressure beginning on Monday, 8/22/2022, as crews work to connect the new water main to the existing system. Service shutdowns are not expected to last into the evenings. Water Service is expected to be completely restored on Thursday, 8/25/2022.
Additional information will be released in the event the planned outage area needs to be expanded or the duration needs extended.
Efforts to restore the roadways in the Decatur Heights area are expected to begin on 8/24/2022, depending on weather and construction progress next week.
Traffic control devices will be in place to detour vehicles around the work area.
Residents are advised to avoid the area as much as possible during this time to allow for the work to be completed safely and successfully.
