Gov. Jim Justice has announced Wednesday will be a state holiday in remembrance of the life of former President George H.W. Bush. The news came on Justice’s Twitter account: “I am declaring tomorrow, December 5, 2018, a State Holiday and day of remembrance for President George H. W. Bush, a true American military hero. All State offices will be closed. More info to come shortly.”
The state Department of Education announced the governor’s proclamation means all public schools will be closed Wednesday.
“For your information, consistent with the Presidential Proclamation issued from President Trump and the Executive Order issued from Governor Justice, all county school systems will be closed tomorrow (December 5) in observance of the day of mourning in honor of President George H.W. Bush.”
Justice had a news conference at the capitol Tuesday afternoon but made no mention of the holiday.
