Veterans Day Recognitions

November 9th, 2024 by WCBC Radio

On November 11, 1918, the weapons of the First World War fell silent after four years. More than 65 million fought in that war – more than half were killed or injured. In 1954, November 11 was designated National Veterans Day to salute all those who have served in the armed services. Local recognitions planned for today include a ceremony at Veterans Park on South Centre Street by Let’s Beautify Cumberland, beginning at 11am and at the Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery at 2pm.
