Let’s Beautify Cumberland will celebrate Veterans Day on Monday, November 11 with a public ceremony. LBC’s Ed Mullaney spoke with WCBC about the program details for the event that takes place at Veteran’s Park on South Centre Street during the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month…
“The ceremony begins at 11. It will include a reflection of the day. The presentationof a wreath followed by a prayer and moment of silence. The sounding of the Taps will conclude the ceremony with the Taps being played by WCBC’s own and LBC’s own Chris Myers.”
Citizens can take time to view the Veteran’s Park monuments, including the Gold Star and Blue Star plaques on display…
“One of the unique things about Veterans Park in addition to the big monument and Eternal flame – we have a Gold Star monument and a Blue Star monument. The Gold Stars were for the mothers who had children who gave the ultimate sacrifice and gave their life during the war. And the Blue Stars are for the people who had children who served in the war.”
