This week, the U.S. House of Representative passed Gerald’s Law, named after Veteran Gerald Elliott, which closes a hospice-related loophole in veteran burial benefits. Wendy Upchurch of the Upchurch Funeral Home shared with WCBC that the new law fixes a glitch in benefits that many veterans on hospice care should have received…
“There is a burial allowance that is available to families which includes some money on the cemetery lot, some on the services, and transportation from the place of death to the funeral home and from the funeral home to the final disposition, whether it be cremation or burial.”
