Verizon’s plan to expand high-speed internet across the state

Garrett and Washington Counties will be included in Verizon’s plan to expand high-speed internet across the state of Maryland. In addition to the two western counties, Charles, Cecil, Howard, and St. Mary’s counties will gain access to the Verizon Fios network. The $26 million project will include the deployment of over 500 miles of fiber optic cable. Garret County Commissioner Paul Edwards is hopeful that through the initiative, the county will be able to connect over one-third of the unserved addresses in the county.
