A blackout on the west side of Cumberland Thursday night was caused by a motor vehicle accident in LaVale. A vehicle traveling in the 500 block of National highway snapped a electrical pole causing lines to come down. The vehicle left the scene and an investigation continues. Potomac Edison restored electrical service just before 6 a.m. Friday morning.
