Maryland’s U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen traveled to El Salvador on Wednesday in an attempt to secure the release of wrongly deported Kilmar Abrego-Garcia. Van Hollen told reporters he met with El Salvador’s vice president who said he could not arrange a release or even a visit or call with Abrego-Garcia. The US Supreme Court has directed the Trump Administration to facilitate the man’s return.Van Hollen said it is an unsustainable and unjust situation…
“The Trump Administration needs to obey the law. But I’m also asking the government of El Salvador and the President and Vice President of El Salvador not to keep a man who was illegally abducted from the United States and charged with no crime to remain in CETOC when as a sovereign country they have the power to let him go and let him go now.”
