Friday afternoon at 12:21 PM, members of the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Upper Georges Creek Road near James Forest Trail for a single vehicle accident with entrapment. Upon arrival, Deputies found that a 2005 Ford Taurus had run off of the roadway and struck a tree causing severe damage to the drivers’ side of the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle Kelli Melissa Wills, aged 35, succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by EMS.
An Accident reconstructionist and a medical examiner was requested to the scene and responded. The preliminary investigation revealed that speed was a factor in the accident. The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office Crash Team along with the Medical Examiner's Office are continuing the investigation for detailed findings and will remain open until their completion. Wills was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Baltimore.
The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Allegany County Department of Emergency Services, Shaft Volunteer Fire Department, Midland Volunteer Fire Department, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
