Earlier this year, UPMC Western Maryland instituted a new provider-focused, quality improvement and recognition program. This initiative, known as the STAR program, is built around four pivotal focuses in the care delivery model: Service Excellence, Teamwork, Accountability, and Respect.
Each month, one of these four ideals is chosen as the focus of an improvement process. Providers can accrue points based on the STAR practice and STAR challenge identified for that month, culminating with the
high-performers being recognized at the end of each month.
June’s focus was accountability. Dr. Christina Sensabaugh, a provider in Hospital Medicine Services, was selected for exhibiting the qualities of a provider who holds themselves to a high standard of dedication in following through and going the extra mile to assure that patient care is always the first priority.
“UPMC Western Maryland is very proud to have Dr. Christina Sensabaugh as one of our providers,” said Matt Simmons, MD, vice president, Medical Affairs. “She provides top-of-the-line care to her patients while tirelessly going above and beyond to make sure the people of her hometown receive world-class care in their own community. We recognize her as a STAR performer and thank her for her endless devotion to her profession and patients."
The STAR program is just another example of UPMC Western Maryland’s commitment and dedication to providing exceptional health care to its patients.
