UPMC Western Maryland has recently been awarded the Platinum performance achievement award from the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR Chest Pain-MI Registry.  This is the third consecutive time that the Heart and Vascular institute at the hospital has received the designation and is the only hospital in the state with the recognition.  Dr. Christopher Haas, medical director of Cardiology at the hospital, told WCBC that cardiology is not the only department that sets UPMC apart. People often think of going to other parts of the tri-state area for health care, including surgeries.
