Transit Funding Falling Short

Allegany County’s Transit System is looking at changing and/or eliminating bus routes. “An as a result of low census numbers, we are no longer considered urban. Because of that we are no longer eligible for an urban funding pot of money from the state for our transit operations.  The situation we’re in now – we have our operations for this current fiscal year is about $2.5 million dollars.  The shortfall, to be able to make things work this year, is $925,000.”
