On Monday, June 6, 2022 at approximately 7:39 AM, an officer of the Cumberland Police Department conducted a traffic stop on George Street for a traffic violation.   The officer identified the operator as James Whetstone.  The officer requested a K-9 officer to respond to the scene.  A K-9 scan resulted in a positive alert to the odor of drugs.   A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected controlled dangerous substances.  Whetstone was arrested and transported to police headquarters.  He was issued a criminal citation for CDS Possession-Not Marijuana and released pending trial at the District Court of Allegany County.
