Maryland has seen an uptick in the economic impact of tourism in the state. The newest reporting shows that visitor volume has increased to 43.5 million visitors in 2022, after a pandemic-related dip the two previous years. The latest number is an increase over pre-pandemic levels. The total economic impact of the tourism industry was over $30 billion dollars with $2.3 billion in state and local tax revenues generated and $19 billion in visitor spending with transportation, lodging, and food leading the way.
