Another grim milestone for Maryland was announced on Tuesday, as health department officials reported that the state's COVID-19 death total has surpassed 5,000.
Maryland added 2,401 coronavirus cases over a 24-hour period, while 61 Marylanders died from the virus, the highest daily death count since May.
Hospitalizations are breaking records nearly on a daily basis, continuing to be the highest since the pandemic began, adding 57 cases during a one-day period ending on Monday.
The statewide positivity rate went up by .07% and is now at 7.53%.
