Yet another video is making the rounds of a fight that took place in front of fifteen or more students gathered in a bathroom at Allegany High School. A caller to WCBC’s Dave Norman show on Friday shared a mishap from two years ago that also happened at Allegany, but the school system did not react the way the parents wanted…
“They’re not going to do anything because when they went to trial because the board of education wasn’t going to do anything, because the human resources guy mentored this boy and they didn’t even want him taken out of school. So when they went before the judge, the judge said they had never seen anything that was so neglectful, not bringing charges against that boy because both of that boy’s jaws were broke and now he’ll have a problem with that for the rest of his life.”
Kimberly Sloane, President of the Allegany County Education Association that represents teachers, says the union does not get involved in policies about fighting unless a teacher would be directly affected to make sure workers compensation rules are followed…
“That isn’t something we do, you know, as an association. We work on contract-related issues. Nobody has reached out to us in the sense that they themselves have, as staffers, need our assistance. Otherwise, that is fully in the purview of the ACPS.”
