Tax Credits Benefit Downtown Buildings

November 18th, 2024 by WCBC Radio

Two historic downtown buildings have qualified for almost $3 million dollars in tax credits as they undergo major revitalization. The Maryland Historic Trust is providing the credits to 71 and 81 Baltimore Street – former homes to Liberty Trust and M&T Bank. The two buildings are being repurposed for housing, restaurant, and office space. Matt Miller of the Cumberland Economic Development Corporation said his office is ready to help other entrepreneurs with area business development…

“We’re sort of the starting point and then once we kind of get an idea of what folks are looking for or where they’re at in their business planning stages, we can kind of either take them right under our wing, or you know, guide them to other resources. There are a ton of entrepreneurial resources throughout the community.”
