When it was in the construction phase, the State Highway Administration required multiple types of signage across the Baltimore Street redevelopment project. Now that the SHA has turned the streets back over to Cumberland, some signage has gone away and other signs are coming. Melinda Kelleher of the Downtown Development Commission explained that city engineers have ordered new signs to be installed soon…
“There would be like a sign at every crosswalk, there would be parking signs. That’s one of the main things that’s been ordered is parking signs for Baltimore Street.”
Kelleher says drivers have a learning curve driving through the new downtown…
“People not knowing that they have to stop and they have to look one way or the other, depending on which direction they’re coming from. So, it’s going to take some time for people to get used to the one-ways and all that.”
