Twenty high school students from Maryland and Pennsylvania participated in the 2023 Frostburg State University STEM Summit on the FSU Campus June 20-23. Students were presented with a scientific problem relating to a hypothetical deep space mission. Participants received instruction in biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, geography, and physics taught by FSU faculty. On the final day, STEM teams presented their solutions for the mission to judges from NASA, Northrup Grumman, and Villanova University. The event is designed to encourage interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics as a profession. The Appalachian Regional Commission, Northrup Grumman, and the Frostburg State University Foundation sponsored the Summit.
