Many of the line items in Allegany County’s budget saw cuts this year including EMS, Allegany College of Maryland, and the county library system. During the State of the County presentation on Tuesday, Allegany Commission President Dave Caporale said that making decisions to not fully fund county-wide programs has been difficult but staff are working to make things better in the future…
“As years have gone by we have really tried to meet those requests and this is just one year that we could not. And that doesn’t mean that the things we’re trying to do now, looking forward, will address these issues going into next budget cycle. So, we’re trying to hit these things head-on, and hopefully come out the other end in a better place.”
