Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown announced Tuesday the state has officially filed a lawsuit against the owners of the Dali – the cargo ship that struck and destroyed the Francis Scott Key Bridge in March. Brown referred to the Dali as a “dark missile” once it lost power and struck a bridge pier with catastrophic force. The state is seeking relief for the cost of the new bridge, disaster recovery costs, lost revenue, and other damages…
“Because of the stunning mismanagement, disinterest, or incompetence of the owner and operator of the Dali, those backup systems failed. Simply put, Grace Ocean Limited and Synergy Marine failed. And their failure resulted in one of the most catastrophic and preventable maritime disasters in Maryland history.”
