State Comptroller Brooke Lierman made her way to Western Maryland on Thursday to attend the ribbon cutting for the new Cumberland Downtown. In her remarks, Lierman said the downtown project is a great example of government and the private sector working together…
“If you put public dollars into transportation projects, private dollars follow. And that’s how we work together as public and private to build something that is bigger than all of us and lasts longer than all of us.”
Lierman spoke exclusively with WCBC News, sharing her thoughts on how the project turned out…
“I think what you all have created is a really world class main street. There’s so much thought that has been put into it and there’s important things happening underground with the Wi-Fi in addition to beautiful storefronts and the brick laying is fantastic so you’ve created something really unique and special. It’s exciting to see and really thrilled that the state could be a strong partner in it.”
