The Digital Ad Tax is back for businesses doing online advertising in Maryland. The Supreme Court of Maryland reversed the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County, who struck down Maryland’s digital ad tax in a case brought by Comcast and Verizon. The tax provides critical funding for the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future, education spending designed create access to equitable education opportunities for all students in the state. The tax affects revenue made by companies on digital advertising shown in the state. State Attorney General Anthony Brown said the ruling on the tax “will support our collective goal of transforming schools across the State. It will help level the playing field so that underserved communities will have access to quality educational opportunities enjoyed by our highest performing schools.”
