The Allegany County Library is offering a Student Access Resource card, or STAR card for the upcoming school year. Students in Allegany County’s public schools, along with Bishop Walsh and Lighthouse Christian Academy will automatically receive a card using their student IDs. Ashley Swinford, Marketing Director for the library system, says the STAR card allows students to have independent library access…
"Wanted to start the STAR card program a few years back for any student that their parents weren't able to come in because of work or something, to sign them up for a regular library card so that they can have access to all this great student resources or anybody that unfortunately had some books that they couldn't return or something happen that they had fines on their account that they couldn't check anything out. Where all about the student having access so we just wanted to reduce some of those barriers."
