On Monday, September 30th, 2024, The Cumberland Police Department responded to a residence in the 200 block of Springdale St. for the report of an assault. Once on scene, officers observed multiple subjects outside the residence involved in a verbal altercation. Officers separated the subjects and contacted the victim of the alleged assault. It was learned that an argument started inside the home involving multiple subjects. During the argument, one subject became violent and choked the victim. As a result of the investigation, Alex Corbin Lemmon, 23, of Cumberland MD, was placed under arrest. He was taken before a District Court Commissioner for an Initial Appearance where he was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. He is currently being held without bond.

On August 12th, 2023 officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 200 block of Springdale Street for a reported assault. Upon officers arrival they made contact with the victim who advised that James Lewis had struck them in the face several times with a closed fist. Officers observed evidence of the assault and placed Lewis under arrest. Lewis was taken before a District Court Commissioner where he was released on an unsecured personal bond of $2,500.
Arrest: James Derik Lewis, age 36, Cumberland Maryland.
Charge: Assault Second Degree
