One of the success stories in the past year locally involves the football program at Southern Garrett High School. Last year the school had to cancel the season after just two games and forfeited the rest of the season due to injuries and players quitting. Southern athletic director Matt Redinger told WCBC that hiring Dave McLaughlin as the new head coach made a world of difference Redinger added that the principal of Southern, Ryan Wolf, was also instrumental in reviving the football program.
