The business economy of downtown Cumberland has been seeing a renaissance of sorts with investors putting money into buildings along Baltimore, Liberty and Centre Streets. Now Cumberland Mayor Ray Morriss says it is time to turn attentions to another part of town once known as a bustling business hub.  A new façade grant being readied for release will enable property owners in South Cumberland to begin to re-energize the area…

 

“This gives those property owners the chance to revitalize their street and hopefully that will encourage some shops and things to open up over on Virginia Avenue. That’s the thing – that’s our second business district so when we talk about the city, we look at the city as a whole and now it’s what can we do for the South End?”
