On Thursday, July 4, 2024, The Cumberland Police responded to a vacant business in the 100 block of S. Smallwood St. for the report of a suspicious subject. Upon arrival on scene, officers located the subject outside the business and identified him as Tyler Daniel Johnson, 34, of Cumberland MD. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that an exterior door on the property had been broken and was unsecure. Upon a search of the property, property belonging to Johnson was found inside. As a result, Johnson was placed under arrest. He was taken before a District Court Commissioner for his Initial Appearance where he was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. He is currently being held on $5,000 bond.
