Maryland Comptroller Brooke Lierman has announced that Shop Maryland Tax-Free Week will return Sunday, August 13th through Saturday August 19th with significant savings for consumers, especially parents doing back-to-school shopping.  During the week, any single qualifying article of clothing or footwear prices $100 or less will be exempt from the state 6% sales tax. The first $40 of any backpack purchase is also tax free. The tax-free savings apply to shoppers of all ages. Throughout the week, the Maryland Retailers Association will help the comptroller promote the event and the Comptroller’s social media pages will also promote the savings.
