September Is National/Maryland Preparedness Month

September 10th, 2024 by WCBC Radio

September is National Maryland Preparedness Month. The Maryland Department of Emergency Management urges all residents to be prepared for emergencies, know where to go for information, and have multiple ways to receive emergency alerts.  This month is a time to make sure you and your family are ready for any emergency whether it be power outages, storms or even cyber attacks, according to Russ Strickland, MDEM’s Secretary.  Flooding is the most common hazard in Maryland, along with severe storms and severe winter weather.  For Allegany County residents, sign up for alerts at alleganygov.org/alertcenter.
